Named one of Australia’s 2023 Dream Stays by Country Style Magazine, the Storekeeper’s House in the small regional Victorian town of Tatura evokes both a sense of the familiar and a curiosity to explore. Lovingly restored by your hosts Carrie and Luis Casanova, the house brings together a sense of yesteryear wrapped up with all the creature comforts expected from a stand out regional escape.
Beautifully appointed with three large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a welcoming open plan living, dining and kitchen area, guests have all they need for a very special escape to small town living. The galley style kitchen features stone bench tops, SMEG oven, butlers pantry and farm house style sink.
The living and dining rooms are warmed by a mix of welcoming textures including aged leather, recycled wool and worn timbers all complemented by the hypnotic wood fire in the winter and a mix of cooling options for the summer months.
Escape to small town life. Perfect for couples, travel with friends, work from anywhere and family getaways.
We even welcome your four legged friends.

One Hour Out
“what we love most is how tastefully the entire home has been designed, with a relaxed rustic aesthetic that introduces contemporary elements into every room (hello lux French flax linen, clawfoot bath, rain showers, golden fittings and premium bath and body products)…framed oil paintings, original photographs and antique furniture – making for a coherent design that is soul-warming and joy-inducing.”

Homes to love
“Fresh white boarded walls and stripped floorboards are the backdrop for carefully curated objects and furnishings that give a cosy, homey feel to your weekend break. Much-loved leather armchairs that are worn to just the right degree, aged brass lamps and collections of oil paintings all draw the eye, and delightful curiosities in every corner repay closer attention.
…if you end up exploring nothing more than the inside of The Storekeeper's House, you'd be forgiven. A weekend wrapped in a tartan blanket on the comfortable sofa, sipping local wine and staring into the fire is a weekend well spent, after all.”

Land of Plenty
"It's a place full of opportunity, with diversity and celebration of difference at its core," Carrie Donaldson, 51, says. Her family has lived all over the district for the past 150 years. "You'll see history and heritage in the streetscapes, but it's more understated than other Victorian towns that were built during the gold rush era. Scratch the surface and you'll uncover amazing human stories, and that's what I love about living here…
We love to think that our guests take home a really positive and memorable experience from their time with us," says Carrie. "They often comment on how friendly everyone is, what their favourite restaurant, winery or cafe was, and that they were surprised there was so much to see and do."
